about

Fell for You in a Frame was written in the Tianjin Economic Development Area (TEDA), about 2 hours by train West of Beijing. The Moon Festival is a major holiday in China, and while North America's harvest moon is something to behold, this song was a moment of inspiration viewed through the star gazing quality of pollution, intoxication, and the recognition that love is a thing captured well in words.

lyrics

I got lost in your glare
again last night;
and I’ll get lost there
again sometime.

Some resolve to get there,
I fell for you in a frame.

Our affair was, at best,
a seasonal crush,
but it’s mutual
and it still makes us blush.

Skinny dipping midnight,
lake couldn’t cover us quick enough.

Chorus:
There’s something constant
about the way you change;
dressed in our skins
we’re one in the same.

I didn’t even notice you
until my friend Thoreau,
from a canoe said,
‘What’s above and what’s below?’

I guess that night,
my perspective was in flux.
That’s the first time
me and words fell in love.

There’s something constant
about the way you change;
dressed in our skins
we’re one in the same.

I got lost in your glare
again last night;
and I’ll get lost there
again sometime.
